Price comparison websites have
been very successful, selling cars,
insurance, holidays and many other products.
Being able to see who can supply at
the best price saves customers money. The product I saw is for internet
products, but so far, just for physical goods.
You set up an internet shop. People
click pictures of your products and are given alternative sites, such as
Amazon, Ebay, with the prices. They chose which to buy, complete
the purchase, organize delivery, and you receive a commission.
You do not have to
invest in inventory.
All you do is promote.
If I promoted physical goods in the US,
this would be worth considering. So, is this for you?
The first thought is the commission
level for physical goods. It is about 5%, whilst for
information products
it is 50%.
Yes, the total amount you
receive is more important
than a percentage,
but you can see how much you need to sell for this to be interesting. You will be selling at the lowest
price, so this will not help your income.
The major drawback, for us who
live outside the US, is being paid.
Amazon only pays with
US bank checks (cheques) a
nd gift coupons – not by
Paypal. Cashing US cheques outside
the US is expensive and takes
time.
It is the leader, so most of your
commission is likely to come
from Amazon. If you wish to pursue this, then
you need to check payment terms of other suppliers. So, if physical goods’ sales are
for you and you are in the US, this sort of model could be for you. There will be a price comparison
for information products
sometime soon.
Now, if you wish to compare prices,
a Google search allows you to do this. It just takes more time than a dedicated website. From yesterday, if you missed it:
