Applying it to IM is difficult, as
electronic products that we sell can be reproduced practically without limit. IM is a world of abundance. An affiliate proclaiming that he/she
has agreed a discount with the product creator for only 100 products, will not be believed. Webinars normally have a limited number
of spaces. ‘Sign up before the limited number of places are gone. There will be no replay.’ If you prefer live webinars, this may
motivate you. If I see ‘no replay’, I do not believe
it and mistrust the author. There will be one. If not, I will not have missed much. I
am invited to a number of live webinars at 3.00 in the morning (Moscow Time). I wait for the replay.
Scarcity is relevant when personal
training is involved. The expert offering training will
automate lessons
by video, audio and ebooks, as well as webinars. There is still a need to
provide one-to-one training (either on call, or as a block) to be credible. This limits the number of students that can be successfully handled. For popular courses, with
John Thornhill, Omar Martin and
Michael Cheney, access to them
is a key selling
point and none disappoint. (John has mentioned to me that bonus
offers of Skype calls and similar actually result in many fewer calls than those who take the bonus.) In summary, fear of loss
(time is running out)
is more believable than scarcity (quantity running out) in IM. However, scarcity (or false
