Looking at the experts that I follow in
IM, they had a lot in common, even before they knew each other.
They started in IM from 1998 to 2005
and took 2-4 years until they were able to have a profitable business.
All now are multimillionaires.
John Thornhill worked in a car factory,
assembling vehicles in Sunderland,
north England. Boredom and a
family to support led him to start trading physical goods on EBay,
including (unsold!) mobile phone
cases filling his house.
In debt, he found a disc of information
books for sale at $50. He knew the disc cost $3 to make and saw the
profit potential.
He created his first, own product
by selling the books individually.

Michael Cheney went to
university, then into the oil business,
in a modest office role that led him
to seek other opportunities.
He spent all free time, including going
home at lunchtime, on his computer to find a business. His search had put him into debt, but

He involved himself in consultancy
and other interests for two years,
before realizing that his IM

than his revenue.
He applied his energy and analysis to

business that he has today.

He is based in Aberdeen, north
Scotland and tells us how little
