A book publisher, here in Russia, wanted me
to provide a few stand-up presentations, but
‘we have very little money to pay you’.
The pay was ridiculously low, but it was only
2-3 presentations. I agreed, on condition
that they gave me 2 introductions to
Moscow University clients.
They delivered.
The first university gave me work for 5 years.
The second has given me work for 9 years,
where I continue to work today.
I decided to ask within a few seconds of the
‘we have very little money to pay you’ news.
It was one of the profitable ‘off-the-cuff’
requests I have ever made.
